The Maine Winery Guild, representing 30 tasting rooms across the state, is proud to announce the launch of the Maine Wine Trail digital experience through a strategic partnership with Seeker, marking a significant leap into the digital age for Maine’s wine region. Through this groundbreaking collaboration, the Maine Wine Trail has been transformed into an immersive digital journey that promises unforgettable experiences for patrons.  Participants can join the Maine Wine Trail on any mobile device and begin exploring detailed winery profiles across the state, complete with photos, descriptions, and an interactive map. There is nothing to download, the Maine Wine Trail is ready to be a part of your Maine adventure. Additionally, it features an engaging check-in challenge, allowing participants to share photos with each winery check-in, unlocking badges, and a variety of exciting prizes.

The 48th annual Common Ground Country Fair will be held at the Common Ground Education Center in Unity, Maine.  The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s (MOFGA) annual celebration of rural living features 1000-plus exhibitors and speakers, and emphasizes vibrant communities, sustainable living and local economies, while highlighting organic agriculture. Sweetgrass supports our local farmers because these farmers are the foundation of our business.  Visit us in Union or Portland for a taste of their bounty in a bottle.

The Maine State Pomological Society will hold the 23rd annual Maine Apple Sunday on September 15, with orchards participating throughout the state. Maine Apple Sunday starts the peak of the apple harvest. Apple orchards from Wells to Caribou will celebrate by offering special activities and free samples of apple products.  Here at Sweetgrass, Union and Portland, we will be offering a free sample of our Apple Wine!  Made with local Maine organic apples grown by mid-coast farmers.

The town of Union will celebrate its 250th anniversary during a weekend of festivities from July 19 to 21. 

Some of the featured events and activities include a grand parade, pie social, a beard contest, 8 free concerts including a special concert by the band Enter the Haggis, several traditional arts demonstrations including blacksmithing and weaving, dozens of kids’ games, movies, raffles, and a variety of food options.

Steven Long of 12 Willow Press recently edited and published "Rivers of Ink: Literary Reflections on the Penobscot," featuring works from 61 Maine writers. This collection celebrates the intricate beauty of Maine's natural landscapes and cultural heritage.  This anthology not only aims to celebrate the voices of Maine writers but also supports environmental conservation, with all proceeds benefiting the Friends of Katahdin Woods & Waters.   Join the publisher and the authors for a unique reading at Sweetgrass in Union followed by a reception for your chance to talk with these popular Maine authors and join Sweetgrass in contributing to a cause that protects and preserves Maine's natural beauty. Reading starts at 3:30 pm and reception featuring a unique Back River Gin cocktail starts at 5 pm. No cost to attend.

This special occasion falls on Father's Day, June 16, 2024, making it the perfect opportunity to treat Dad to a memorable experience. Experience an hour-long sit-down tasting led by our esteemed Owner Distiller, Keith Bodine, accompanied by Assistant Distiller Scott Franks. While our production facility is closed to visitors during the winter, you can find our products at our tasting room and shop in Portland.  Sweetgrass Old Port is open all year around.  If you are looking for our spirits - you can find those at your local liquor store like RSVP, Bow Street, Old Port Spirits, and Damons and at Maine grocery stores such as Hannaford, Whole Foods, and Shaws.
