Sweetgrass Corporate Giving and Charitable Event Policy

We take pride in being part of the community.  Each year we pledge 10% of profits to organizations which support families, children, and rural life in Maine.   We support Maine’s local 501(c) 3 non-profits and community organizations that focus on community, economic development, and stewardship of our state’s natural resources.

Applications must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the event and will be reviewed against other requests in a competitive process.  Not all requests will be approved and decisions are solely made at the discretion of Sweetgrass management. Due to the large volume of requests, we cannot respond to faxes, phone calls, or mailed letters. All requests must be made through the application form below.

· IN-KIND DONATION OF EVENT SPACE Sweetgrass may donate the use of its tasting room for events that support the mission of a non-profit.  Events can include public tastings, semi-private events during open hours, or private events outside of open hours.  Events that will include lectures, speeches, presentations, or business meetings can only occur outside of regular open hours.   Sweetgrass will provide tasting room staff for the event, but the hosting organization must supply their own staff to manage the event. The cost of tastings is not included in the in-kind donation of the event space.

· IN-KIND DONATIONS OF WINE OR SPIRITS Sweetgrass may donate product for events that support the mission of a non-profit.  Donation recipient must hold a valid liquor license for the event. The donated product must directly benefit the non-profit.  Clear records of the donation must be kept. The product may only be served at the designated event; any remaining product must be returned to Sweetgrass.  Bottles should be recycled and not turned in for redemption, as a deposit was not paid.

· IN-KIND DONATION OF MERCHANDISE Sweetgrass may donate a selection of merchandise towards a non-profit fundraising event, such as an auction item, gift certificate, or gift basket.  Merchandise can include but is not limited to, apparel, bar ware, gift certificates, and private tours. Donation recipient must pick up the donated merchandise from the tasting room at a scheduled time prior to the event date.

· MONETARY DONATION Sweetgrass may make a monetary donation to a non-profit organization in conjunction with a corporate membership, a sponsored event, or other type of partnership.

· CHARITABLE EVENT PARTICIPATION Sweetgrass may participate in charitable events where staff time is donated to charity for pouring product at the offsite event.
